We have a long way to go before this project can be realised. There are a limited number of suitable vessels being decommissioned over the coming years, with multiple competing parties for the opportunity to make good use of them.
The Gordon's Bay Scuba Diving Club members have been working towards the dream of having a wreck in Coogee, right in the heart of Sydney. We need your help to make this dream a reality.
GBSDC members are prepared to do all the hard work, we just need the support of the greater scuba diving community, both near and far. If you love diving, and the idea of a destroyer sunk off the coast at Coogee gets you excited, Please email us and tell us!
Sinking a decommissioned warship is expensive. We cannot possibly fund it ourselves. As a result, we are currently lobbying our elected officials for support.
We all know that politicians are fuelled by public opinion, it motivates them above all else. Therefore, we need to show our politicians that there is HUGE public support for this project. If we can show them that, then we will be so much closer to our goal of a DESTROYER IN SYDNEY!
